WEERTS LOGISTICS PARKS PLANTS FIRST TREE IN FIDENZA

Last Friday Pascal Weerts planted the first tree (a beautiful, strong oak) at our new logistics development in Fidenza, in the province of Parma in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. The Fidenza project is a 50,000 sqm logistics building that will be LEED Platinum certified.

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum certification is the highest level of certification in the LEED green building rating system, which is a globally recognized system for measuring and promoting environmentally sustainable building design and construction. LEED certification evaluates buildings and construction projects based on several criteria, including energy efficiency, water efficiency, indoor environmental quality, sustainable materials and resources, and innovative design. Buildings can earn one of four levels of certification: Certified, Silver, Gold, or Platinum. LEED Platinum represents the highest level of achievement and signifies exceptional environmental performance and sustainability in a building.

The project in Fidenza is the first of 4 projects Weerts Logistics Parks currently has ongoing in Italy for a total gross leasable area (GLA) of 260,000 sqm, the other projects being located in Venice (120,000 sqm), Bari (50,000 sqm) and West Milan (41,000 sqm). Each of the projects will be LEED Platinum certified.  Furthermore, our energy division Weerts Energy will install an aggregate of 40 MW of PV-installations on the roofs of the warehouses.

A sincere thank you to the local, provincial and regional authorities of Fidenza, Parma and Emilia-Romagna to see this project through with us, as well as to our development partner SFRE/SFCM for its contribution in realizing the project and their authentic commitment to modernizing the Italian logistics warehouse infrastructure.
